Paragraph 3 of 155

Ray Winder is now gone. Built in 1931, it hosted ballgames for almost 74 years. Progress demanded that it be demolished for a parking lot. The scoreboard still stands mostly, but the score that needs to be settled likely won’t be reflected on the board. The Travelers’ Dickey-Stephens Park is a fine new facility, comfortable and commodious. It just lacks both the soul and the history of the historic park it allegedly “replaced.”

Unexpected word

“Commodious” is rare enough that some readers will stop on it.

Try this: set up the unusual word Does the sentence before prepare the reader for it, or does it arrive cold?

You decide: keep it, revise it, or set it aside for additional review.

Prosemetry never rewrites your work. It identifies important patterns and asks you to consider changes.
